Overview / Summary of Topics:
Personalized learning discussed the why and how and positive and negatives that come with creating personalized learning experiences. The goal of personalized learning is to have course materials that fit the needs of individual learners. With personalized learning, information is efficiently transmitted and data collected creates a clearer picture of the individual learner's needs. While personalized learning would create an ideal learning experience for individuals, it can be incredibly time-consuming to create and implement. Objective types and Bloom's Taxonomy showed us the purpose and structure of objectives, emphasizing the importance of using measurable terms and avoiding generic verbs like "understand" and "learn." It also covered Bloom's Taxonomy and compared the original version to the revised. Also covered was how to write strong objectives using the ABCD method. A strong objective usually includes the Audience, Behavior, Condition, and Degree. Condition and Degree may be left off if they are unnecessary, but objectives are stronger when more parts are used.

Item of Interest:
The most interesting lesson for me was the ABCD method. It is a great, simple way to make sure that your objectives are strong.

I do not currently have areas I need help or clarification on.

    Hi, Amber! I too thought the ABCD method was interesting. I thought this was a good lesson to start out on. I needed the refresher course on Blooms Taxonomy. I think you gave an accurate summary and it was easy to read. The readings this week offered up a lot of great information. Great job!

I also love how it embedded the video into Canvas instead of just having the hyperlink for the learner to click on to be taken to YouTube. Areas of Help or Clarification: I think I'm ok here. It was a little tricky for me at first, but I think it's just because I was so used to Blackboard. This was different, but seems to get the job done just as well as Blackboard.

Overview / Summary of Topics: Motivation Relevance Fostering self-efficacy Creating satisfaction Fostering social belonging Lesson design project layout and materials needed Item of Interest: The lecture on relevance was the most interesting thing for me this week. I especially liked the note to focus on fulfillment of future goals. I know that I have definitely been guilty of retaining information only long enough for a test (current benefit) and I know that connecting something to future goals gives me more connection and reason to learn and retain information. I think this can especially be helpful when students are required to take courses that they may not actually be interested in.  Areas of Help or Clarification: I do not have areas of clarification this week.
