Topics Covered:
This module was all about building our lesson into the Blackboard LMS.
Overview / Summary of
Topics:
- Building lesson folder
- Including lesson introduction and objectives
- Creating sections for lesson chunks
- Building tests
- Setting up a discussion board
- Building Rubrics
- Creating course links
Item of Interest:
I think I found most interest in making sure that everything worked properly. No broken links, internal links went to the correct page, etc. I am a little bit of a perfectionist, so I probably went through my final course about ten times and made adjustments each time. Hoping I got it right!
Areas of Help or Clarification:
The act of building the tests was a little tricky and it is definitely not something I could have figured out without the how-to video, so I am thankful for that. I think I figured it out though.
Hi Amber, I really enjoyed with Blackboard Coursesites. I do agree with you that building the tests was tricky, especially the part of "pulling from the pool." The video's were helpful; thank goodness we had them. Thank you Professor Gale! I built a website in the past so I probably added more content than was needed for this lesson; however, I felt like I needed to provide "my imaginary students" with enough detail for complete understanding. I used the preview mode numerous times to make sure my information was clear enough that most anyone could understand it. At this point, I feel like I am ready to build a course and teach it. I am super excited to see what we learn from the capstone class.

Hi Amber! I also enjoyed going back and looking over the folders and materials created.
ReplyDeleteI am going to say this hoping my tests turned out as they should, but the test generator was not that difficult for me. This is possibly due to the classes I am currently teaching have been transformed to online as everyone else in our state. I use Canvas, which in my opinion is more user friendly, and have been creating tests through that LMS. There are differences between the two, but I feel the current experience I've had with that helped me some with building the test in Blackboard. If you would like to ever meet on Zoom, I will do my best to help in any way possible. Again, I hesitated in saying all of that since my Blackboard assignment hasn't been graded yet. I'm hoping the randomized pooling worked for me. :)
Take care and I kind of miss talking with you. Our Zoom meetings might have been a little stressful in that class, but we definitely gained connections.

Hello Amber! The multiple choice test was an item I had to go back an work on. I actually missed the Randomize option my first try but after going back and editing the test and selecting the Randomize option, the pool questions worked appropriately. I found Blackboard fairly easy to use and the video tutorials were a big help. I hope to get a chance to create another lesson in Blackboard soon and use more of the tools and become more familiar with Blackboard.
